The Abergavenny Arms
is a privately owned oak beamed English Free house, with
the warm and friendly atmosphere of a traditional village
pub.
We
are proud to be featured in The Good Beer
Guide 2008, as Sue Wood &
Dan Bohac keep an excellent cellar of ales.
Come
and enjoy a meal in the delightful village setting of Rodmell,
which is nestled in the South Downs,
4 miles south of Lewes on the edge of the South Downs Way.
Rodmell was the home
of Leonard & Virginia Woolfe, which featured in the
Bafta award winning film " The Hours "
The
National Trust property "Monks House" is open
to the Public on Wednesday & Saturday afternoons 2pm
to 6pm from April to September.
We are delighted
to welcome Claire Roberts
who joined the team here as Head
Chef in August 2006.
Take the opportunity
to taste our extensive menu
of traditional English wholesome home made dishes &
desserts, along with a variety of excellent cask
conditioned real ales.
Share the warmth
of the roaring log fire during the cold winter months, or
make your wish and throw your spare coins into our wishing
well...or perhaps even catch sight of one of our ghostly
spirits which have been known to spook our visitors!
We have a Function
Room and a large car park and dining areas designated for
non-smokers.
On National No
Smoking DayMarch 2005 we banned smoking in the main bar
areas of the Pub.
Smoking is still
permitted in the small public bar area (games room) whch
is seperate from the lounge bars.
